Relax! We don’t breathe down your neck. Refreshingly our website doesn’t track you with Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel and co. We try hard to avoid third party services, unless they significantly improve your customer experience.

1. General

MUYU Coffee Sagl is the operator of the website www.muyu.coffee and the provider of products and services offered thereon. Hence, MUYU Coffee Sagl is responsible for the collection, processing and use of your data and has to ensure compliance with Swiss law and other applicable legal frameworks such as GDPR. Protecting your personal data is a huge priority to us, and the first step towards this goal is to collect as little as possible. Here you will find information on what kind of data is collected and used on www.muyu.coffee. You will also learn how you can verify the correctness of such data and have it deleted by us. Please note that this Privacy Statement may be changed from time to time. Therefore, we recommend reading it on a regular basis to make sure that the most recent version is always known to you.

2. Collection, Use and Processing of Personal and Corporate Data

2.1. Essential information we collect

In operating our store it is essential for us to capture some information about your device, such as your IP address and information related to your visit when you browse our store. For example, this might include time-stamps, the last page or product you visited, the indication that you logged in. We do that in order to:

  • remember who you are after you log in so that you do not need to authenticate at each click;

  • monitor if our website is running with the high performance we are dedicated to providing;

  • let you browse between products without having to start back from the home page at each click;

  • remember if you put something in your shopping cart before you decide to checkout; and

  • control that your data is processed securely.

  • We call the information mentioned above “essential information” and we collect it through the use of cookies (see Chapter 7). Without enabling this mechanism and this kind of cookies (required and functional cookies), we could not provide you with the smooth experience that you expect while you are navigating.

2.2. Order information you expressly provide

If you buy something from our store, we will need more specific information about you. To fully process your order and ship the merchandise you selected, we need your personal data such as your first and last name, your email address and your shipping and billing address. We also use your contact and order information to send you communication related to the processing status of your order. We will ask you to provide this information in our “checkout page” before letting you finalize your purchase with the payment.

We share this information with Squarespace, our online store hosting provider, so that they can provide website services to us.

As you go through checkout, this site may auto-complete your shipping and billing address by sharing what you type with the Google Places API and returning suggestions to you to improve your checkout experience.

2.3. Customer accounts

You can sign up for an account if you’d like. This will make us happy because it confirms your interest in our store. It should also make you happy because we will remember your information and, when you decide to buy our products, you do not have to provide all of your information over again - you just have to log-in. 

This information may include your:

  • Billing and shipping address(es)

  • Details about your orders

  • Email address

  • Name

  • Phone number

We share this information with Squarespace, our website hosting provider, so they can provide website services to us.

Before registering your account, we will ask you to expressly provide your consent to this privacy policy. Only if you give us your consent, we will open your account. We also give you the possibility to easily withdraw your consent and delete your account. For this purpose, email us at privacy(at)muyu(dot)coffee.

Please be aware that our coffee subscription plans require the creation of a customer account with saved billing information, so you can easily manage or cancel them at any time. 

2.4. Marketing emails & newsletter sign-up

Only in case you opted-in, we may send you marketing and newsletter emails, which you can easily unsubscribe from by clicking the link at the bottom of the email. 

We share your contact information with Squarespace, our email marketing provider, so they can send these emails on our behalf.

2.5. Processing

We use an external provider to run our online store, ​Squarespace Ireland Limited Attention: Legal - Privacy, Le Pole House, Ship Street Great, Dublin 8, D08N12C Ireland. Squarespace is committed to treating personal data received from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (as well as personal data received from elsewhere around the world) in a secure and privacy-first way, and processing it in a way that meets the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.​ Those clauses are used as the legal basis for transferring personal data to third countries, including the United States.

In addition to Squarespace, we also use a very limited number of Sub-Processors to provide the most competitive services. Find a full list in Chapter 8. Partnering with highly specialized external companies allows us to focus on what we do best: roasting great coffee.

2.6. Fonts

This website uses font files from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. To properly display this site to you, servers where the font files are stored may receive personal information about you, including:

  • Information about your browser, network, or device

  • Your IP address

3. Data Controller

The Personal Data Controller is the Swiss Limited Liability Company under the name "MUYU Coffee Sagl", based in Via Castelrotto 18A, 6600 Locarno, Switzerland.

4. Data Disclosure

To the extent it may be necessary for order processing, your data will be shared with our partners (third parties), such as SwissPost. If your data is shared with external service providers, technical and organizational measures will be taken to make sure that such data sharing is compliant with applicable data protection laws. If you provide us with any personal or corporate data on your own, we will not use, process or disclose such data beyond the extent permitted by law or your consent. In addition, we will share your data with external service providers only if this is necessary for order processing and such partners have agreed to comply with applicable confidentiality and due diligence regulations. Furthermore, we will disclose your data only if obliged to do so under applicable laws or so ordered by an administrative or judicial authority.

5. Data Security

We will keep your data safe and therefore take all appropriate measures to protect it against loss, unauthorized access, abuse or any changes whatsoever. The platform we are using supports security protocols (SSLs) and encryption mechanisms (HTTPS protocol) that allow secure data transmission to the network. Once stored, Squarespace protects your personal data and has put appropriate technical and organizational safeguards in place to meet these standards. Our staff members and business partners who may have access to your data will be contractually obliged to keep such data confidential and comply with applicable data protection laws.

6. Inquiry, Deletion and Correction

You can at any time request information on what of your data we store. For this purpose, please email us at privacy(at)muyu(dot)coffee. In doing so, remember to attach and send your proof of identity to the same email address.

You can at any time request that your data be deleted or corrected. Of course, you are also entitled to withdraw at any time your declared consent to the future use or processing of your personal data. For this purpose, please email us at privacy(at)muyu(dot)coffee.

We delete the stored data as soon as it is not used for the specified purposes anymore.

As far as data deletion is concerned, please note that we are subject to some legal obligations whereby certain data is required to be stored for a specific period of time. We have to comply with these obligations. If you wish that we delete any of your data that is required by Swiss law to be stored, we will block such data and use it only to meet our legal obligation to store the same. Once the legal storage period is reached, we will delete your data as requested.

7. Cookies

To help you experience our website www.muyu.coffee, we use so-called required and functional cookies (see the full list in Annex 1). Cookies are small pieces of information needed for the use of our website that your browser stores on the hard disk of your computer. The information contained in the cookies help us control your visiting session, in particular in order to improve your navigation and make our website highly user-friendly. The cookies we use do not record any personal information whatsoever. 

To give you peace of mind while visiting the website www.muyu.coffee, we decided not to rely on any performance, analytics or advertising cookies.

In most web browsers cookies are accepted automatically. You can prevent it by configuring your browser. You can at any time delete cookies stored on your computer by clearing the temporary Internet data (Tools/Internet Options bar).

8. Sub-processors

When choosing our service providers, we put your privacy and data security front and center. 

8.1. Stripe

Our store is PCI-DSS compliant (a very strict industry standard with requirements for the security of credit card information), but in addition to this, we want to use an accredited company to process your credit card information. ​For this purpose, we rely on Stripe Inc., 185 Berry Street, Suite 550, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA as our payment gateway provider. Sensitive card data is never handled by Squarespace. It goes directly to the payment processor’s servers; we don’t have access to this information.
