Reimagine how coffee reaches your cup.
Muyu Coffee is a micro roastery focused on bringing you some of the finest bolivian specialty coffees available worldwide. Founded by husband and wife team Vanessa and Yann, our business is pretty much a reflection of our own personal life, a love story between Switzerland and Bolivia. Connecting our two very contrasting countries has been the main driver since the beginning and defines the uniqueness of our roastery. MUYU is the result of 3 life-changing years spent in Bolivia, helping establish our sister company Elevate Coffee - the first specialty coffee roaster in Cochabamba - and carefully building-up a network of quality driven smallholder coffee producers. Out of these close partnerships, excellent specialty coffee is now seeking to add excitement and context to your daily cup.
A family run micro roastery bridging continents
Proyecto Elevate
Great coffee doesn’t happen by chance.
Cultivating year-round contact with Bolivia allows us to celebrate a very unique, intimate relationship with the origin of our coffee, which we personally accompany all the way from the farms of our producers until your cup. As initiators of Proyecto Elevate, the shared sourcing program with our local sister roastery Elevate Coffee, we work exclusively with small, family-run fincas, which usually have no access to international markets. Our focus is equally directed towards the quality of the rare nano and micro lots which we carefully select in our roasting lab at origin, as well as the financial sustainability and environmental compatibility of coffee production.
The farm gate prices we pay for green coffee and transparently share with you for every bean in our online store, are far above market average and paid out directly and immediately to the producers. Instead of being based on the biased stock exchange prices, they take into account the specific cost structure of smaller Bolivian farms and the cupping score of each coffee. In this way, we allow smallholders to generate enough income so that it can flow back into the finca as necessary investments or used towards fairer wages for the coffee pickers.
At the same time, we go way further than most green bean buyers, providing our producers with valuable knowledge input, project-specific microfinancing and constructive feedback from our two roasteries in order to improve coffee production, align it with the wishes and tastes of the end customer and constantly increase value generation along the supply chain.
